Una rivalità senza fine tra due grandi squadre. Una la squadra degli “xeneizes” ossia i genovesi, con riferimento agli italiani che per primi s’insediarono nel quartiere dandole il nome de La Boca, qualcuno sostiene per ricordare quel tratto di Genova in cui si trova il caratteristico borgo marinaro di Boccadasse. Ma non solo. L’attuale stemma rappresentativo del quartiere riporta, tra l’altro, anche la croce di S. Giorgio simbolo per eccellenza di Genova.
Oggi la Boca, che fu proclamato nel XIX secolo territorio indipendente dall’Argentina per volontà di emigrati genovesi, è il quartiere popolare del “caminito” le cui strade sono ravvivate dalle variopinte facciate delle abitazioni dei marinai boquensi e impregnato dalle note malinconiche del tango, nonché la sede dello Stadio del Boca, la “Bombonera”, per via della sua sagoma caratteristica con le tribune che si stagliano pressoché in perpendicolare e immerse tra le case del quartiere.

Dall’altra parte, invece, i “los millionarios”, club fondato, da emigrati genovesi sempre nel barrio della Boca ma ora operativo in un altro quartiere di Buenos Aires, etichettato come “milionari” per via dell’acquisto, negli anni trenta, dell’attaccante Bernabè Ferreira che vestì la maglia del River per la stratosferica, ai tempi, somma di 9000 dollari. Le due più grandi squadre argentine. Il Boca sempre presente nella Prima Divisione nazionale e con un palmares davvero ragguardevole con diversi trofei conquistati all’estero, di contro il River Plate la squadra più titolata dell’Argentina. Sfide mai banali quelle del “Superclasico”, come viene nominato in Argentina la partita, che nel 1968 si tramutò in quella che i quotidiani argentini appellarono come la tragedia della Puerta 12. Il 23 giugno di quell’anno, infatti, a causa dei disordini scoppiati all’interno dello stadio del River morirono 71 persone schiacciate contro uno degli ingressi dell’impianto, appunto la Porta 12.
Il gagliardetto di questa settimana è quello della finale di andata della Coppa Libertadores giocata nel 2018, terminata con un pareggio di 2-2. Quella partita non venne disputata, come riportato nel gagliardetto il 10 Novembre, bensì il giorno seguente a causa delle fortissime piogge che si abbatterono sulla capitale argentina che comportarono il differimento di un giorno dell’incontro. Sul gagliardetto, oltre a tutti i dettagli della partita, è riportato il caratteristico stemma con stelle del Boca Juniors. Ciascuna delle cinquantadue stella all’interno dello scudo rappresenta un trofeo vinto dai gialloblu.
La sfida di ritorno, programmata per il 24 novembre non venne disputata per una serie di scontri avvenuti fuori dallo stadio del River. La Conmebol, successivamente, decise di far giocare la partita in campo neutro al Santiago Bernabeu di Madrid, dove trionfò il River.
