Nella stagione 1957 – 1958 l’Alessandria rientrava in serie A dopo nove anni di assenza. Per affrontare dignitosamente il massimo scenario calcistico nazionale, la dirigenza allestì una campagna acquisiti brillante in cui vennero acquistati nuovi talenti come l’interista Giacomazzi e il nazionale svizzero Vonlhanten, oltre al ritorno a casa, dal Monza, dell’alessandrino Tagnin.
I nuovi acquisti apportarono bel gioco e successi soprattutto nella prima parte del campionato. Sul finire dell’andata, invece, l’Alessandria si trovò invischiata nella lotta con squadre di centro – bassa classifica salvandosi dalla retrocessione a due giornate dal termine del campionato. Come nel campionato precedente i grigi indossarono maglie con colletto azzurro, motivo prontamente ripreso anche dal gagliardetto in uso in quella stagione che, sui lati, riportava un nastro con tale tonalità e al centro lo stemma classico circolare della Società con il monogramma e la croce rossa in campo bianco simbolo della città di Alessandria.

In the 1957 – 1958 season, Alessandria returned to Serie A after nine years of absence. To face the highest national football scenario with dignity, the management set up a brilliant acquired campaign in which new talents were acquired such as Giacomazzi from Inter and the Swiss international Vonlhanten, in addition to the return home, from Monza, of the native of Alessandria Tagnin.
The new signings brought a good game and successes especially in the first part of the championship. At the end of the first leg, however, Alessandria found themselves embroiled in the fight with center-low-ranking teams, saving themselves from relegation just in last two matches before the end of the championship. As in the previous championship, the grays wore jerseys with blue collars, a motif also promptly taken up by the pennant used in that season which, on the sides, carried a ribbon with this shade and in the center the classic circular emblem of the Club with the monogram and the red cross on a white field symbol of the city of Alessandria.
